In May of 2023 the Town of Spider Lake Board of Supervisors approved the collection of feedback from all Town residents and property owners related to land use, quality of life issues, and community character through the use of a survey.

The Town Board named an ad hoc committee to undertake the effort to, “DESIGN, COMMUNICATE, AND EXECUTE A PROCESS to collect feedback from the total population of Town of Spider Lake property owners and permanent residents to assess both the importance of, and the level of satisfaction with, topics such as, but not limited to: Town governance (effectiveness and transparency), Town services (budget and finance, facilities and infrastructure, emergency services, land use, planning and management, communications, etc., stewardship of natural resources, level of participation in Town activities and demographics.”

  • What differentiates the Town of Spider Lake from other Wisconsin towns?
    • The Town of Spider Lake has its own Land Use  ordinance including shoreline regulations which are more restrictive than the Sawyer County or WI State Statues.  Enforcing these ordinances protects the natural resources of the town and gives the town a distinctive Northwoods character look and feel.
    • Boaters must observe Slow No Wake speeds at all times with the exception of 11AM-3PM on Clam Lake, Ghost Lake and parts of the Spider Chain of Lakes.  During these hours in these areas, waterskiing and higher speed boating is allowed.
    • There are designated routes and trails for ATV/UTV and snowmobile use.
